Two States, No Solution.
An ambitious, but almost certainly doomed 'peace conference' is about to get underway in Annapolis, Maryland, to attempt to carve in stone the parameters and borders of a "two-state solution" to the Israeli-Arab conflict. It occurred to me as I started to type "Arab-Israeli conflict" that that is a loaded term of Zionist invention designed to place the onus for the conflict on the Arabs and create the Jews into innocent victims merely responding to Arab attacks. That, of course, is the exact opposite of the truth. The Jews started this mess but want the whole world to accept their crimes as faits accomplis that cannot be undone.

If, in trying to defend itself, it succeeds in obtaining nuclear weapons, it might stave off attack. So who is the aggressor here?

The war cry is that Iran cannot be permitted to develop nuclear weapons, because it will use them in a war of aggression. Israel has nuclear weapons, everyone believes (even tho that should have made it ineligible for U.S. military or other aid (welfare) after the Nonproliferation Treaty was passed), but it hasn't used them in an aggressive war. The United States has nuclear weapons, and is the only country on Earth ever to have used them, tho in a defensive war forced upon it at Pearl Harbor by the nation on whom the U.S. dropped nuclear weapons. The Soviet Union, now Russia, has nuclear weapons; as have Britain, France, China, India, Pakistan, and, probably, North Korea. None of those countries has used them in a war of aggression. Yet.

Pakistan is a Moslem country, but it hasn't used nukes against Israel. But Iran will. That is what we are told, explicitly and implicitly, over and over again. And that, like Saddam's supposed nuclear-weapons program, imposes upon the United States the obligation to launch a first-strike war of aggression to defend Israel.

We are never tu ask why we are obligated to defend Israel. It goes without saying. Literally.

Oh, the pretense is that a nuclear Iran is a danger to us, and that if Iran gets nukes it will also magically get intercontinental ballistic missiles with which to launch them at the United States. There are actually three sane people who believe that. All the rest of the world knows that the U.S. Government does not for one second believe that Iran aspires to launch a first-strike on the U.S. homeland. So why all the war talk in the United States?

Because, you see, President Ahmadinejad has said Israel should be wiped off the face of the Earth, or wiped off the map, or something, and that could be done in only one way: by nuclear attack. Oh?

I love maps, and have kept track of maps over time. I have an atlas from around 1890, National Geographic maps from as early as 1921, and the Times (of London) Atlas of World History. I know a lot about changes to maps over time.

The Soviet Union and Yugoslavia were both wiped off the map, indeed, off the face of the Earth, without nuclear war. In fact, the Soviet Union was erased from the map without any war at all, and the name "Yugoslavia" was finally eliminated without a war, tho there were wars in Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo in earlier stages of the struggle to destroy Yugoslavia. Not one nuclear weapon was used in the elimination from the map of either the Soviet Union or Yugoslavia.

How about East Germany and West Berlin, which were on maps from 1949 to 1990? They were wiped off the map without even conventional warfare, much less nuclear attack. What else? Goa, Diu, Pondicherry, and Sikkim were all incorporated into India without use of nuclear weapons. No violence, no genocide. But all these once independent entities have vanished from the map.

French Louisiana vanished from maps in 1804, by peaceful, mutually agreed purchase, as did Russian North America in 1867. And on, and on.

What Iran and other Moslems want is for the name "Israel" to vanish from the map and be replaced by the name "Palestine". One name, one state. Not two names, not even "Jewish Palestine" and "Arab Palestine". One name, one state: Palestine.

Does that require the extermination of the Jews? Of course not. It requires only the extension of Palestinian citizenship, with full rights, to "Israelis", who will then become simply "Palestinians", which is what they would have become had they entered Palestine as immigrants rather than conquerors: Jewish Palestinians. No one is talking about forced conversions. That probably includes even Al-Qaeda, who are supposed to be Islamists, and Islam forbids forced conversions of "People of the Book" or dhimmis (the "Book" meaning, mainly, the book we call the "Bible" (from Greek byblos) but also including other faiths memorialized in pre-Islamic sacred writings, such as Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, and Buddhism).

In destroying Israel, then, we are not (necessarily) talking about genocide, altho Zionists want Americans to think we are, inescapably, talking about genocide. They are liars.

All we are really talking about is changing the political forms and formal name of a tiny area of the planet. It really is as little meaningful as the changes in names from Burma to Myanmar, Congo to Zaire to Congo again, South-West Africa to Namibia, Northern Rhodesia to Zambia, Southern Rhodesia to Zimbabwe, Madagascar to Malagasy Republic and back to Madagascar, Cambodia to Kampuchea to Cambodia again, or Tanganyika and Zanzibar to Tanzania.

In the case of Tanzania we have a perfect parallel to what could develop for Israel and Palestine, two separately administered territories merged into one, the only difference being that instead of being a meld of the two prior names, a reunited Palestine would presumably take the name of one of the two entities merged, "Palestine", rather than being dubbed with some combination of the two names. Would Israelis be mollified by a combined name? "Israstine"? Arabs might not like that, since -STINE would be pronounced like -STEIN, a common ending in Ashkenazi Jewish names. "Palael"? How about "Abraham", for the patriarch of both Jews and Arabs? "Israel", after all, was a personal name, for Jacob. Why not, then, call a reunited Palestine the Land of "Abraham", reuniting the Jews and Arabs in a single term that openly calls for appreciation of their common origin?

Too peaceful. We wouldn't want Israel to vanish peaceably into a united, peaceful "Abraham" in which the best of both peoples merge in equality and reconciliation. No, we want ARMAGEDDON! Because that is what the creation of Israel was supposed to produce: Armageddon, so that this wicked world can be destroyed, and Jesus can return to Earth and sit in Majesty on his Earthly throne to rule for a thousand years. Of course, billions of people will have to die and be plunged into Hell (the "Lake of Fire") for that to happen, but for those of us who survive — and all Christian Zionists think they'll be among The Elect, altho some sects say that only 144,000 people will survive Armageddon to welcome the Second Coming — it will be a glorious event, something like the pangs of childbirth, from which pains spring all human life. Yeah, that's the ticket.

India, a heathen land, had to get nuclear weapons. Then Pakistan, a Moslem power, had to get nuclear weapons. Then India had to get closer to the United States. So when Iran attacks Israel, the U.S. will attack Iran; Russia and China will attack the United States and India; both of whom will counterattack China and Russia. Pakistan, seeing its chance, will attack India and India will counterattack Pakistan. Then God's winds will sweep the whole of this planet and carry deadly nuclear fallout to every part. Thus will end this wicked world, and Jesus, Triumphant over His own death and the death of Earth, will return to Reign in His Majesty, and all will be Heaven on Earth! See the plan!?! See it?!

Well, if you don't see it, congratulate yourself on not being a religious loon. But do not for an instant fail to see why we are moving, full speed ahead, toward World War III, over Israel. No two-state solution will succeed in stopping this inevitable drive to World War III. Even if the Palestinian people, thru their government or even in referendum, should accept defeat and humiliation, and consent to the permanent theft of most of their land and history, militants will not. They will revolt, subvert, assassinate, destroy, joined by recruits from all over the Islamic world. Iran will continue to develop nuclear weapons in self-defense. Christian Zionists will join in Israel's demands that the United States destroy Syria and Iran. Step by step we will move to the precipice. We can all see it, but none dare believe it.

There is only one way to stop this somber march to oblivion, and that is a One-State Solution. It is the creation of Israel that started us on this march. Only the un-creation of Israel can stop it. Israel must indeed be wiped off the map. The borders between Arab and Jew in Palestine must be erased; the wall ("security barrier") taken down; the inequality abolished. All of Palestine must be reunited in a multiethnic, multireligious, single state. Call it "Palestine", "Israstine", "Palael", "Abraham", or whatever name the people of Unified Palestine will be proud to call their country, but do it.

If the only way Israelis can feel secure about giving up their independence is by making United Palestine the 51st State of the United States, so the United States can guarantee equal treatment under law by rigorously enforcing anti-discrimination laws equally on everyone, then by all means let us make Unified Palestine the 51st State of the United States.
